Solve : What are these folders in my ext hard-drive??

Answer»

I have MAXTOR Basics 500GB which aquired a virus as the USB port was infected, but it has been resolved and has been cleaned since but I have come ACROSS a few folders in the ext hard-drive which wasn't there when I bought it and was wondering if I could delete it. I have screenies of each, SORRY poor they were done in Paint. The top pic is the over-view of my hardrive the unknown folders are the one in random digits.

Are these files alright to delete or compile if there so my E drive is cleaner? Thanks in advance.looks like maybe some sort of backup or something? Those are backup or cache folders for Windows updates.
They can be safely deleted, but you may not be able to - if you can't remove them, use a utility called Unlocker - http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ - to unlock the folders first.
Hope this helps.yay i was right! i new it! and i thought about windows update folders too! i feel specialQuote from: computeruler on December 30, 2008, 01:36:08 PM

haha yeah one of those folders is for if you want to uninstall a service pack though so if you have the room, sometimes it's best to keep these THINGS, but it is entirely up to you

And btw, the gap is really a folder isn't it?
I know your secret...haha
alt+0160 and no icon Lol, a folder that if people found me with on my PC I'd get slaughtered, I bought well my parents did a version, but I dled the most recent. Much appreciated that folks, they all deleted simple & easy. haha fair enough fair enough
