I hae an older P3 IBM Thinkpad 600X. I need a new hard rive, but I do not know how to tell which type to buy. I have seen a wide variety of hard drives from places like newegg or ecost, but I do not know which one will fit my LAPTOP. How can I figure this out?

ibm laptops rule !I'm not disagreeing with Callum, I just know from experience (my first REFURBISHED laptop a few years ago - an IBM ThinkPad with a Pentium 3) that older models can have HHD size caps. MINE capped out at something like 6GB.

After reading back I wasn't clear enough what I as referring to when I said "size" - I mean GB of space, not physical dimensions.now that you bring that up* that older model might not be able to handle a hd much larger than a 6 gig my thinkpad 600e only has a 3 i THINK ? it don't work anyway..........

YEAH, he might need to make sure and read the mainboard specs on that puter before comiting to a hard drive purchase!
