Solve : What is my RAM limit on my PC??

Answer»

I am using an AMD Athlon XP 2800+, 2.1 GHZ processor.
I have 2.4 GB DDR RAM in it right now in two slots. I bought another 1GB DDR RAM and put it in the third and last slot. It doesn't seem to come up on dxdiag. Have I reached a RAM limit?

Thanks xTravel to Crucial.com and run their online scanner...And as for the ram limit, you should probably check the owner's manual for your system. It's possible your mobo requires both slots to have sticks of EQUAL value. Thanks for the link, I just did the scan on Crucial, here's a screendump.

I have added a third 1 GB RAM to the last slot. There are only three slots in my PC. Crucial.com scan tells me there are four, that I can upgrade, and that currently I only have 2GB inserted.
I have three GB inserted and I have TRIED to fit them in different slots, swapped them around. DXDIAG and Crucial both still say there is only 2GB in my machine!

I bought this PC second hand and unfortunately the original owner didn't give me any manuals when I bought it from them... got any links where I could find a PDF version of it? Crucial scanner does not identify make & model of computer; you haven't told us what it is either. He could try this. It gives more info about the system
