Antivenom (or antivenin or antivenene) is a biological product used in the treatment of venomous bites or stings. Antivenom is created by milking venom from the desired snake, spider or insect. The venom is then diluted and injected into a HORSE, sheep, goat or cat. The subject animal will undergo an immune response to the venom, producing antibodies against the venom's active molecule which can then be harvested from the animal's blood and used to treat envenomation. Internationally, antivenoms must conform to the standards of Pharmacopoeia and the World Health Organization (WHO).[1]

In the U.S. the only approved antivenom for pit viper (rattlesnake, copperhead and water moccasin) snakebite is based on a purified product made in sheep known as CroFab. It was approved by the FDA in October, 2000. U.S. coral snake antivenom is no longer manufactured, and remaining stocks of in-date antivenom for coral snakebite expired in the Fall of 2009, leaving the U.S. without a Coral snake antivenom. Efforts are being made to obtain approval for a coral snake antivenom produced in Mexico which would work against U.S. coral snakebite, but such approval remains speculative. In the absence of antivenom, all coral snakebite should be treated in a hospital by elective endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation until the effects of coral snake neurotoxins abate. It is important to remember that respiratory paralysis in coral snakebite can occur suddenly, often up to 12 or more hours after the bite, so intubation and ventilation should be employed in anticipation of respiratory failure and not after it occurs, when it may be too late.

Do you just surf the web looking for things to post?

The below quote taken from your wikipedia quote makes absolutely no sense. It is either expired or in-date but it can't be both.

remaining stocks of in-date antivenom for coral snakebite expired in the Fall of 2009,
I think it is interesting. Useful information for people who spend a lot of time outdoors and camping.
Here in SA we have the puff adder, one bite from that guy and you have something like 20min to get to a hospital that has the antivenom.

The quote that the in-date antivenom expired in 2009 makes perfect sense - the antivenom that could have been used expired in 2009, so at the moment there is nothing that can be used.

if it's expired, it's not "in-date".in-date antivenom expired

The expression 'in-date' is a label for a class of objects. ENGLISH has many such odd expressions.  Another example:

Last survivor of first Iwo flag raising dies

EDINA, Minn. — Charles W. Lindberg, the last survivor of the six Marines who raised the first American flag over Iwo Jima during World War II, has died. He was 86.
After he died he was still called the last survivor.

Now back to topic. Hhere is a video about how to identify the Coral snake in North America. Does not apply to other parts of the world.

Yes, but he was not bitten by a snake.I never implied that he was... Quote from: patio on January 19, 2011, 07:09:09 AM

Right, but if he had been bitten in 2007 there still would be coral snake anti venom that would have not yet expired. The expiration date was 2009 for existing stock of coral snake anti-venom that was otherwise identified as in-date material before it became out-date material.

The original quote was:

ACTUALLY, there might be  some stock left, but out of date.

This is posts in Off-Topic. Perhaps youn would like to start a new section on 'How to Write English" and move this. Would not hurt my feelings.
What on Earth does this have to do with the Iwo Jima's soldier reference ? ? Quote from: patio on January 19, 2011, 07:30:16 AM

Sorry I did not fill out the outline better. My English homework assignment for today was to write about:
The internet
Snake bites
Old soldiers

I should have started with the video as the introduction. Notice the reference even includes solders.

An Australian man has been killed by a bite from a tiger snake as he surfed the net on his computer. Michael Thorpe (43), from Perth, died after being bitten by the tiny tiger snake that was only about 30 cm long. Police say that Thorpe had delayed calling the emergency services and that led to the poison being able to spread and kill him quickly.

Thorpe died shortly after arriving at the Joondalup Health Campus. Health Department spokeswoman Crystal Fairbairn said that 77 people had so far been treated for snake bites in Western Australia this year.

Man Killed By Snake Surfing The Net
Of course, that was from Australia and may be disqualified as an English source in some USA classrooms. No too sure about that. Quote

I can hear it now.  All the parents that have been telling their children how dangerous the net can be now have proof.
I'm completely lost.  Off Topic does NOT mean you can go off on wild tangents that are clearly unrelated to attempt to get us to guess what it is your thinking of...
