Answer» The hard drive in my 10 year OLD PowerBook (yes, that's right, an APPLE PowerBook) is making a WHINING noise. It STARTS out quiet, but after it's been on for awhile it starts to get louder and louder. Sometimes it takes longer to spin up than usual. I should also mention that I dropped it around 5 months ago , in case that will give you a clue to what's wrong.Hard drive BEARINGS are going bad. Backup everything because it's going to die, soon.That's what everyone else said. Just wanted a second opinion. I'm not going to back up anything because there's not anything worth backing up.
