Answer» Hi all. About a week ago my laptop, HP DV6 6024TX, started playing up. Windows cannot find the Wifi, ethernet, USB or sound card. They appear in device manager but that tells me the it can't INSTALL the device driver. It is missing or corrupt. When I TRY using the "add new hardware" wizard it just sits there doing nothing.
I have tried running AVG and Avast virus killers, Malwarebytes, Ccleaner and a few other programs. They found a few adware and Trojans and cleaned them.
I thought it might have been a hardware issue but I tried the HDD in another laptop and that had the same problem.
Can some one please give me an idea of where to GO next. You said that you tried that hard drive in another laptop and the same problem appeared? Are there any yellow warning icons in Device manager? Thanks for your reply Dave.
Yes. ALL network devices, Wifi devices, USB devices and sound devices have the yellow triangle.I'm going to move this topic to the Hardware FORUM where someone there will be better able to help you.Travel to the HP site...enter your product info and the Win version and your drivers will be listed...
Re-install any that have the Yellow !!'s...Hi patio,
I did as you suggested on another computer and copied them to CD. Tried to install all of the SPs I DOWNLOADED and it said they worked fine but the devices still have yellow triangles in device manager. Fixed.
Although this had been moved to the hardware section it turned out to be a software problem. I had given up trying to re install drivers for the millionth time and had a look at what had changed recently. I remembered that I had installed two AVR IDE programs and one of them required libUSB_win32.dll or something like that. I removed all three progs and bingo, it came back to life. I don't know which one installed the 32 bit dll but it should have been smart enough to know I had a 64 bit OS.
But all fixed and I am now happy again.Good News indeed...
