Prior to XP this usually wasn't an ISSUE...but since you have XP; Changing the CPU will sometimes require a repair INSTALL of XP because it is considered a major hardware upgrade.... These are the 2 methods : Repair Install of XP Swapping out a MBoard/CPU I recommend whichever you CHOOSE to read thoroughly and print out a reference copy...most of all take your TIME.
