Answer» Hello i just BUILT a new PC and everything is working right except one minor problem. When the PC restarts it always wants to boot from a CD. I went into the BIOS and disabled boot from CD and put Boot from HDD on top of the list of boot choices. but when it restarts it looks for the CD boot disk. Then i have to go in to the BIOS and dont have to do ANYTHING then save and exit and it starts like normal.
any advice? Are you pressing F10 to "save changes and exit" in the BIOS and answereng "Y" to the prompt to re-boot ? ? Is your system time on this machine correct ? ?I dont use f10 i move over to the exit bar and its prompt "Y' to save changes. and its weird you mention the time. i was having difficulties with the time it would set it self 2 hours BEHIND. it was set to auto configure the time through the internet. i Disabled that and now the time is correct.Replace the CMOS battery...bout the size of a dime on the MBoard... Part # CR2032 available anywhere.
Do all this with all power removed.
CMOS battery retains all BIOS settings and it sounds like yours is LOSING settings.well the settings are the same when i go into BIOS i just have to go in and exit it. Ive set it once they are retained just not implemented when starting But i will try a new battery just incaseOK so i replaced the CMOS battery and disabled the auto update time and now it restarts like it should.
Thank you for your help ☺Excellent !
