Solve : Windows Vista 32 bit USB doesn't work?

Answer»

Hey all, just got a new 4g USB flash DRIVE, but sadly it doesn't work on my computer.

I reinstalled my chipset drives and it still doesn't work.  It recognizes the flash drive, but SAYS the drivers aren't installed, so I have vista look for them, doesn't work, so I have vista again look online and still can't find any.

Motherboard is: ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA NFORCE 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard

Any help would be cool. What is that flash drive make, and model?Bah, didn't give it did I?

Its a 4gig USB Flash drive.  Got it at Best Buy, geek squad brand.  I know, I don't like their crew but the price was decent.  Another company on the package is U3 Smart.  HOPE this helps, I hooked it to my friends computer and his recognized the drive fine, so I"m guessing its my USB drivers? I RELOADED the chipset and it still doesn't work.  Anyone got any ideas? Most flash drives don't need any drivers to be separately installed under XP, or Vista.
I'd exchange it. Quote from: Broni on December 09, 2007, 09:31:37 AM

The computer is vista, and it says it sees the flash drive, but there appropriate software to run it isn't installed.  I try to go through the steps to find it and vista can't find anything.  Quote

What is the exact message, and at what point does it come up?Have you got all your Vista updates ? ?
When first released Vista did not support U3 which is a security feature...but also allows apps to run right from the drive.
Check the Vista update page...

The other option would be to do a full format of it on the machine that sees it to remove the U3 feature.
