Answer» Hi, I hope this is the correct place to post.... I'm USING a Dell Inspiron 1520 running Windows XP. My issue is that my wireless card will not load every time I turn on the computer. The little light stating I have WiFi doesn't come on and when I go into device manager the item is not there. but, after logging off two or three times it eventually comes on and then when I check in the device manager it is there. Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this issue?
Thank you in advance,
SheilaYou could try the following :
- Go to device manager and uninstall Dell wireless card program if any - Turn your notebook OFF - Reseat your wireless card and turn on your Dell - Update all related wireless drivers
Then check if the device manager recognises it and if your wifi card is functioning correctly. If you still have the same problem try installing another card to check if its indeed the cards problem.
A friend had a similar issue with another Dell and reseating the card did it for him. Hope it helps.Ok, I uninstalled my driver for the wireless card and rebooted my machine. I used my other computer and went to dell.com and downloaded the driver and tried to reinstall it and I'm getting an error "No compatible hardware found. the software you are attempting to INSTALL is not supported on this system. the software will not be installed."
Does this mean that the the wireless card on my computer is not even recognized and that maybe my wireless card bit the dust?
Please help. I'm so darn frustrated. I just finished fixing my other computer yesterday and now this ONE is GIVING me *censored*.
Thank you,
Sheila
P.S - WHEN I LAUNCH COMPUTER IN SAFE MODE THE WIRELESS CARD IS LISTED IN THE DEVICE MANAGER. WOULD YOU SUGGEST THAT I HAVE A VIRUS OF SOME SORT?
