My wife's COMPUTER desk is one where the tower with the USB ports is down below the surface where the keyboard and MOUSE are operated.

Does a wireless keyboard have to have LINE of sight to the USB receiver to allow it to work?

And if so, COULD a USB extension CORD be used to put the USB receiver up where the keyboard could see it?

No, it will go around objects a a range of less that about 6 feet, two meters.
