Answer» Greetings to everyone. Can anyone help with this please. Whenever i connect any drive to the secondary ide connector my system refuses to boot. Once the cable is off booting is fine. I have tried all jumper settings on the drive and still same result, "disk boot failure insert system disk". System refuses to recognise any disk. PRIMARY master: none. Primary slave: none. Can someone anyone help? GIVE thanks for the assistance.Hi Rock, try connecting the drive to it's own channel, some motherboards are VERY quirky this way. Look at the spot on the motherboard where your harddrive is connected, right next to it should be another slot, connect your drive using another seperate cable there. This way it has it's own channel. Cheers and good luck.
P.S. I believe you are having problems with connecting it to the existing cable due to the jumper settings on the harddrive not the dvd drive itself. Cheers and let us know if this helped Cary, Thanks for your REPLY. Sorry I did not POST enough details. The drive is being connected to its own cable and channel. Yes there are two connectors, Secondary and Primary. On the Primary there is room for two connections. I have two Hard Drives connected to the Primary, one set as master and the other as slave. I am now trying to use the Secondary channel to connect the drive and this is when I run into the diskboot failure PROBLEM. Thanks again for any help.
