Solve : Y wont my video card work??????

Answer»

hey guys i just brought a new video card today and it wont work in my computer but when i plugged it into my other computer it works so mayb i thought it was the power supply so i swapped it and still NOTHING yet other cards work fine in my system any help??

my specs are :
Gigabyte MOTHERBOARD
1.8ghz core 2 duo cpu
512mb MSI 7600GT video (the ONE that wont work)
512mb ram
200gb hddIs it plugged in correctly?
Check the connections, and check the card for any signs of damage.
What motherboard are you using?no there is no damage and yes it is plugged in correctly the computer starts up but the monitor wont switch on but it does with my older video card

the mother board is a Gigabyte 9VM800PMCYour 7600GT, is that a PCI-E card?No it's AGPI was about to say, your motherboard only has AGP so that could have been the problem.
Try another monitor with that video card.I thought perhaps your motherboard had integrated/onboard
video and the BIOS setting isn't correct.

Have you checked that? Also'imanidiot',you are not an idiot. You should meet
my pet bird.

Good day to you too street1.You alluded to the PSU, but gave no details. What is the make, wattage and age of it?ok thanks guys i will cheak the bios but how? lol last time i stuffed AROUND with the bios my pc wouldnt boot up!!! hence the name imanidiot also my power supply is an omni 500w and the model is: omni PS-ATX 500W. hope that helpsOmni doesn't exactly inspire confidence on this end.
Most BIOS's will RECOGNISE an external card being added and disable the onboard video...
However if you do want to play around in there make sure to write down any and all changes you make to prevent a reoccurence of the first magnitude.
