A.C. Generator	D.C. Motor
A generator is a device which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy	A D.C. motor is a device which converts electrical energy into mechanical energy.
A generator works on the principle of electromagnetic induction.	A D.C. works on the principle of force acting on a current carrying conductor placed in a magnetic field.

Similarity: Both in A.C generator and D.C motor, a coil rotates in a magnetic field between the pole pieces of a powerful electromagnet.
