Sulphur disappears when boiled with an aqueous solution of sodium sulphite. Why ?

Answer»

SOLUTION :S reacts with `Na_(2)SO_(3)` to form sodium THIOSULPHATE `(Na_(2)S_(2)O_(3))` and hence S DISAPPEARS.
`Na_(2)SO_(3) + S rarr Na_(2)S_(2)O_(3)`
