Solution :In tert-butyl alcohol, ALKYL group is HIGHLY branched and hence APPROACHES almost spherical shape. As a result, non-polar part of the molecule becomes less prominent and hence it can have STRONGER intermolecular hydrogen bonds with water molecules. On the other hand, n-butyl alcohol has predominently non-polar character.
