Apply Pythagoras' theorem: square on the hypotenuse of a right-angled triangle is EQUAL to the sum of the squares of the other two perpendicular sides.  

Height²  = hypotenuse²  - base²

=> Height²  = 20²  - 16²

=> Height²  = (20 + 16)(20 - 16)

=>  Height²  = (36)(4)

=>  Height²  = ( 6²)(2²)

=>  Height   = ( 6 )(2 )  = 12 cm

Length of height = 12

Least natural number = 1

Hence 12 - 1 = 11

11 should be subtracted from the length of the height to get the least natural number
