The SUM of two numbers is 45 ---> a+b =45 (1)

the DIFFERENCE is 5 -----> a-b=5 (2)

from (2), we can say: a=5+b

we substitute it in (1) so we get,

(a)+b= (5+b) +b =45

---> 5+2b=45

---> 2b= 40

---> b=40/2=20

so b= 20 and a=5+b = 5+20 =25

a=25

b=20
