1.

The length of a rectangle is 8 cm and each of its diagonals measures 10 cm. The breadth of the rectangle is A. 5 cm B. 6 cm C. 7 cm D. 9 cm

Answer»

A rectangle can be divided into two triangles.

Sides of each triangle will be 8cm and 10 cm.

According to Pythagoras theorem,

a2 = b2 + c2

102 = 82 + c2

c = √ (102 – 82)

c = \(\sqrt{36}\)

c = 6 cm

So, breadth of rectangle is 6 cm.
