Ascending order of observations in given data is as follows:

2, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11

n = Number of obs. = 8 which is even

Median = \(\frac {\frac n2 th \, obs. + (\frac n2 +1)th \, obs.}{2}\) 

= \(\frac {4^{th}\, obs. + 5^{th}\, obs.}{2}\)

= \(\frac {5+7}{2} \frac {12}2 = 6\) 

Hence, the median of given data is 6

Correct option is: A) 6

  • We need to arrange them in ascending order i.e., 2,2,3,5,7,9,10,11
  • since we have 8 number which is even so we need to consider 2 numbers i.e., 4th and 5th number  therefore,5,7 
  • then we want to add them i.e, 5+7=12
  • next step ,we need to divide them by 2 i.e.,12/2=6
