∴x=y-9..........................(1)

2nd case

if 2 is  subtracted from both numerator  and denominator , fraction becomes 2/5.

∴(x-2)/(y-2)=2/5.

Cross multiply the above equation:

5(x-2)=2(y-2)

5x-10=2y-4

5x=2y-4+10

5x=2y+6.

Take 2 as common.

5x=2(y+3)

5x/2=y+3.......................(2)

Subtract 1 and 2.

5x/2=y+3

x=y-9

3x/2=12

3x=12×2

x=24/3

x=8.

Now, ADD 1 and 2.

you will get y=17.

fraction:x/y=8/17.

Thus, required fraction is 8/17.
