perimeter of RECTANGLE = 60

=> 2(length + breath) = 60

=> 2x + 2Y = 60

=> x + y = 30....................eq.1

and

area of the rectangle = 216 m²

=>length x breath = 216 m²

=> XY = 216

=> x = 216/y....................eq.2

now substituting the value of x in eq1 we get

=>216/y + y = 30

=>216 + y² = 30y

=>y² - 30y + 216 = 0

=>( y - 18 )( y - 12 ) = 0

either y = 18 or y = 12

when y = 18 then x = 216/18 = 12

when y = 12 then x = 216/12 = 18

therefore

length of the rectangular playground

= 12 m or 18 m
