Let the ratio of COPPER and zinc be 5x and 3x,

= 5x + 3x = 61

= 8X = 61

= x = 61/8

= x = 7.625

= 7.625 × 3

= 22.875g.

Method 2

Let the ratio of copper and zinc be 5x and 3x

➦ 5x + 3x = 61

➦ 8x = 61

➦ x = 61/8

➦ x = 7.625

Now, If we find the weight of copper, then we will ABLE to find the weight of zinc :-

The weight of copper:-

➦ 7.625 × 5

➦ 38.125

The weight of zinc

= The weight of alloy - The Weight of copper

Therefore,

➦ 61g - 38.125g

➦ 22.875g

Now, Verification

➦ 22.875 + 38.125 = 61
