  • 5 TIMES the smaller number is EQUAL to 4 times the larger number

To find :

  • Numbers

Solution :

  • Let the one number be x

One is more than the other then ,

  • Other number be x + 5

5 times the smaller number is equal to 4 times the larger number then,

》5x = 4(x + 5)

》5x = 4x + 20

》5x - 4x = 20

》x = 20

Then,

  • One number = x = 20
  • Other number = x + 5 = 20 + 5 = 25

Hence, 20 and 25 are the numbers

Verification :

》5x = 4(x + 5)

》5(20) = 4(20 +5)

》100 = 4(25)

》100 = 100

Hence VERIFIED
