There is a huge difference between the melting and boiling points of oxygen and sulphur. Why ?

Answer»

SOLUTION :(i) SULPHUR has great catenation property and forms large molecule( `S_(6)` or `S_(8)` ) having high molecular WEIGHT, which results in higher melting point.
(ii) While oxygen exists as diatomicmolecule of less molecular weight, HENCE has very low melting point.
