But as 8 boys can do the job in 17days , $\frac{34}{3}$ boys can do the same job in(187)$\frac{34}{3}$ = 12 days.

Given that , 3 men(M) or 8 boys(B) can do the work in 17 days i.e the CAPACITY of 3 men and 8 boys is same.
Hence,3M = 8B , which gives , M = $\FRAC{8}{3}$*B

We need to find , the time taken by 2M + 6B . Replacing M with $\frac{8}{3}$*B

we GET 2*$\frac{8}{3}$*B + 6B = $\frac{34}{3}$*B.
But as 8 boys can do the job in 17days , $\frac{34}{3}$ boys can do the same job in(18*7)$\frac{34}{3}$

= 12 days.
