Answer» SOLUTION :(i) Since 2-methylbutan-2-ol is PRODUCED when compound (D) reacts with `CH_(3)MgBr` followed by hydrolysis. Therefore, compound (D) MUST be butanone.  (ii) Since butanone (D) is produced when vapours of ALCOHOL (C) are passed over heated copper, therefore, alcohol (C) must be butan-2-ol.  .
