What are bio degradable polymers ? Give examples .

Solution :The materials that are readily decomposed by micro organisms in the environment are called biodegradable .
Natural polymers degrade on their own after certain PERIOD of TIME but the synthetic polymers do not .
The biopolymers which disintergrates by themselves in biological systems during a certain period of time by enzymatic hydrolysis and to some extent by OXIDATION are called biodegradable polymers .
Examples :
(i) POLYHYDROXY butyrate (PHB) .
(ii) Polyhydroxy butyrate - co- `BETA`- hydroxyl valerate (PHBV)
(iii) Polylactic acid (PLA)
