what are the characteristic features of seeds dispersed by water and animals |
Answer»
Most water dispersed seeds grow with some type of air cavity inside. Coconuts, for example, are hollow. This air cavity is large enough to counteract the weight of the seed and keep it floating as long as the shell is not pierced.

The animal eats the fruit but only the juicy part is digested. The stones and pips pass through the animal's digestive system and are excreted to form new plants. This can be far away from the parent plant. Blackberry, cherry and apple seeds are dispersed in this way.
| |
