Answer» Solution :(i) Food PRESERVATIVES : Substances which prevent spoilage of food due to microbial growth are called food preservatives. Examples are table salt, sugar, VEGETABLE oils and sodium benzoate. (ii) Synthetic detergents : Synthetic detergents are CLEANSING agents which have all the properties of SOAPS. These can be used in soft as well as HARD water. Examples of detergents are as under : Anionic detergentSodium laurylsulphate Cationic detergentCetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide Non-ionic detergentPolythylene glycol stearate (iii) Antacids : Substances which neutralise excess acid in the stomach are called antacids. Examples of antacids are sodium hydrogensulphate and metallic hydroxides. |
