Answer» Solution :Away from the saturation region the CURRENT will increase, SINCE the strength of the electric field INCREASES as the plates are brought closer together. In conditions of saturation the current will decrease, since the effective volume of the ionization chamber is smaller. The current-voltage characteristics are shown in FIG.
