The meaning of DEATH to me, by Christian faith, death is only temporary. Since we are born SINNERS, our greatest punishment would be death.  

Death is dying of our earthly body. We have two types of bodies in spiritual world, ONE is our earthly body and the other one is our spirit body or simply known as soul. When your earthly body dies, your spirit body will be only left to CARRY on the the after life. Death is an extreme punishment for us because we are born sinners. And for these sins that we commit, we need to DIE so we can make our soul appear before God and then he would grant us eternal life to his kingdom. God's kingdom is for spirits, and therefore, we cannot enter it without dying first. Once we have entered his kingdom, we will never experience any pain, any worries, any fears and we will just be happy all the time. This is what Christ has promised to us when he himself experience death on the cross.

A life without death is impossible. And in any case that this would happen, a person who will live forever will not gain genuine happiness. It only means that he will not be living in God's kingdom. Because the only way to his kingdom is by dying.
