Answer» An AMBULATORY surgery center (ASC), also known as outpatient surgery centers or same-day surgery centers, are healthcare facilities where SURGICAL procedures not requiring an overnight hospital stay are PERFORMED. The type of procedures performed in ASCS are broad in scope; HOWEVER, several orthopedic procedures done today are performed in ASCs.
