What is starch? What are the ultimate hydrolysis products?

Answer»

Solution :(i) Starch is a polysaccharide in which a LARGE NUMBER of monosaccharide UNITS are linked to each other by oxide bridges and these linkages are called glyosidic linkages. General FORMULA of starch is `(C_(6)H_(10)O_(5)_(n)`.
(ii) It is a white amorphous substance with no taste or smell. (iii) Starch get hydrolysed to monosaccharides.
`underset("Starch")((C_(6)H_(10)O_(5))_(n))+nH_(2)Ooverset(H^(+))rarrunderset("GLUCOSE")(nC_(6)H_(12)O_(6))`
