What is the Agile manifesto?

Answer»

The Agile Manifesto lays out values that help teams get into an Agile mindset. When everyone on the team genuinely incorporates these values into the way they think, it helps them build better software.

Following are the Agile Manifesto –

  • Individuals and interactions over processes and tools: While Agile team value processes and tools as it helps the team get organized and work effectively, they value people and interactions more because teams work BEST when they are self-organized, motivated, co-located and pay attention to the human element.
  • WORKING software over comprehensive documentation: While Agile team values comprehensive documentation because it’s an effective way to communicate complex requirements and ideas, they value working software more because it’s the most effective way to communicate progress, understand evolving requirements and get feedback from users.
  • Customer collaboration over CONTRACT negotiation: While Agile team values contract negotiation because sometimes it’s the only way to work effectively in an office culture where mistakes are PUNISHED, they value customer collaboration more because it is much more effective to get proper PRODUCTION requirement for building software.
  • Responding to change over following a plan: While Agile team value following a plan because, without planning, complex software projects go off the rail, they value responding to change more because the team that works on the wrong plan ends up building the wrong software.
