Answer» Solution :(a) The probability of extracting the first ACE is 4/36 = 1/9. If the extracted ace is returned to the PACK and the pack is shuffled again, the probability of extracting an ace a second TIME remains the same. The probability of extracting TWO aces in succession is EQUAL to the product of the two equal probabilities. (b) If the extracted ace is not returned to the pack, the probability of extracting the second ace will be 3/35. The probability of extracting two aces in succession is equal to the product of the probabilities.
