Answer» <p>A band of dedicated Sarvodaya activists under the leadership of Chandi Prasad Bhatt founded DGSM (earlier DGSS) in 1964 at Gopeshwar to work for the socio-economic, cultural, and environmental development of the region. The strength of DGSM's activities lies in the organised strength of the local people, especially women. DGSM has provided aid to many villages over the year, providing the impetus to the setting up of Mahila Mangal Dals (village women's groups) and safeguarding the forests from exploitation. DGSM has also conducted study tours and has recently set up a People's Information and Assistance Center.</p>
