What part is played by stamens and carpels in reproduction |
Answer»
.Stamens are the male parts of plants and they are made up of long stalks called filaments, at the top of which are present the anthers. .These anthers produce pollen, which is comparable to the sperm in a human male.

.These pollen migrate through various agents(the most common being wind and insects) and reach the carpels, which are the female parts of a plant(note that some bisexual flowerscan reproduce with themselves, i.e, the pollen from their stamens reach their own carpels). .It's main component is a wideovary at the base of the carpel. It narrows upwards into the style, at the top of which is present the stigma. .The stigma is a sticky platform on which, when insects sit, the pollen stuck to their feet (from various endeavors near stamens) gets transferred to the stigma. The ovary is comparable to the human female ovary.

It then leads in the formation of sex cells inside the pollen, which travel through the style to the ovary, where they are received by the eggs in the ovary. This eventually leads to the formation of a seed, then a fruit, then a flower, etc.
| |
