Which of the following is called post-mitoticgap phase? |
Answer»
G1 is the first stage to follow mitosis in the cell cycle, and is the period in which the cell performs its normal functions for the body before it begins preparing to divide again. A liver cell (hepatocyte) in G1, for example, would be synthesizing blood proteins, processing carbohydrates, secreting bile, and so forth.

G0 (G-zero) refers to a stage in which cells have left the cell cycle and ceased dividing. Examples include mature bone cells (osteocytes), neurons, and fat cells (adipocytes), which no longer divide. They, too, carry on their bodily functions, but never advance to the S phase where other cells replicate their DNA and begin preparing for the next mitosis.
| |
