Which of the following is found using Lenz’s law?(a) Induced emf(b) Induced current(c) The direction of induced emf(d) The direction of alternating currentThis question was posed to me in homework. This key question is from Electromagnetic Induction topic in section Electromagnetic Induction of Physics – Class 12

Answer»

The correct answer is (c) The direction of induced EMF

For explanation I would say: Lenz’s law is a general law for determining the direction of induced emf and hence that of induced CURRENT in a CIRCUIT. Lenz’s law states that the direction of an induced emf will be such that if it were to cause a current to FLOW in a conductor in an external circuit, then that current would generate a field that would oppose the change that created it.
