Which of the following is incorrect regarding natural rubber?(a) Shows thermoplastic behaviour(b) Soluble in benzene(c) Resistant to attack by oxidising agents(d) Shows high water absorption capacityI had been asked this question in an online interview. My question comes from Types of Polymerisation Reactions in section Polymers of Chemistry – Class 12

Answer»

Right option is (c) RESISTANT to attack by OXIDISING agents

The best I can explain: Natural rubber BECOMES soft at temperatures above 335K and SHOWS brittle character at temperatures below 283K. Hence, it shows THERMOPLASTIC behaviour. It is soluble in non-polar solvents like benzene, toluene, etc. and is not susceptible to attack by oxidising agents.
