Answer» It is the PRESSURE of the hydrostatic column set up due to osmosis. It is the pressure applied on the solution to prevent the entry of the solvent into it through the semi- permeable membrane. During osmosis, the FLOW of solvent is only from DILUTE solution to concentrated solution. Osmotic pressure is directly proportional to the TEMPERATURE of the solution. Solution :During osmosis, the flow of solvent is from both sides (Net flow is from dilute solution to concentrated solution ).
