The goals of Backlog Refinement are as below: 

  1. Backlog refinement with the team helps to share and analyse the requirement properly, to avoid wrong execution, exhausting EFFORT, and reworking the IMPLEMENTATION to get it finished. 
  2. Backlog refining helps in SIZING the items and hence saves us from risk and overrating and underrating costs 
  3. It helps us in prioritizing the backlog. Prioritizing saves us from working on unimportant items 
  4. It improves the efficiency of Sprint planning meetings as most of the risks, queries are already discussed 
  5. It helps in keeping the backlog clean, RELEVANT, and focused on goals 
  6. It leverages the BENEFITS of detailing the stories and hence helps the development team during the development phase 
  7. It enhances understanding between the Scrum Master and stakeholders
