1.

Why the value of 'g' is more at the poles than at the equator?

Answer»

The shape of the earth is oblate. Therefore, the radius of the earth is more at the equator than at the poles. Moreover, due to rotation of the earth, everybody at the equator experiences centrifugal force away from the centre of the earth. In contrast, there is no centrifugal force at the poles. Due to these two reasons the value of 'g' is more at the poles than at the equator.
