Answer» Generally BOX type or hollow type steam ENGINE pistons are used. These are generally made of cast IRON. Box type pistons are cast in one piece with hollow CORE. This PISTON is secured by a nut to the piston rod. To prevent the leakage of the steam two piston rings are provided with the piston.
