Answer» <STRONG>Answer: A doctor by profession, Watson is an empathetic MAN, who understands emotions and situations on a level that Holmes fails to understand. He is the second-most important character in the story, after Holmes. This is because he helps Holmes COMPREHEND the sensitive aspects of situations, which is not Holmes' strong suit. Mary Morstan is mentioned in passing in "The Adventure of the Crooked Man" and "The Boscombe Valley Mystery", but by the time of "The Adventure of the Norwood Builder" (after Holmes's return) Mary Morstan has DIED and Watson has returned to his former lodgings in Baker STREET. Her cause of death is never mentioned. |
