Solution :100 to 3000 D- glucose units are joined by `alpha` 1, 4 - glycoside LINKAGES and ALSO `alpha` 1, 6 – cross links in starch. 300 to 2500 D- glucose units are joined by `BETA` 1, 4-glycoside linkages in cellulose.
Cellulose has packed arrangement of chains. Hence, it is stiff and hard.
