1.	You know what is urban and what is rural. What will you call the area that lies between them?
Answer» The area between urban and rural areas is called rural-urban fringe. It is characterised by the urban as well as rural characteristics, since it is transition zone between the two. Thus, in rural-urban fringe there is a mixture of urban-rural land use. In some rural areas apart from the land use for agriculture, some agricultural land has been converted into residential and industrial uses. Thus, villages in rural fringe are partly affected by urbanization. Thus rural-urban and fringe have the characteristics of both urban and rural settlements.
