Question : In what way Peyang conserves the forest. |
| Answer» Solution :The .Forest man of India., Jadav Payeng who created 1,360 acres of dense and defiant FORESTWAS born in Arunasapori (a river island on the Brahmaputra). He had just completed his Class X exams in 1979 when he started to sow the seeds and shoots on the ERODED island covered with sand and silt. Thirty-six years later he had converted the once unproductive land into a forest. Payeng.s forest is now home to five Royal BENGAL tigers, over a hundred deer, wild boar, vultures, and several species of birds. For his remarkable initiative, the Jawaharlal Nehru University invited Payeng in 2012 on Earth Day and honoured him with the title of the .Forest Man of India.. Later, the President APJ Abdul Kalam felicitated him with a cash award in Mumbai. The same year, he received the .PADMA Shri.. | |

Question : In what kind of plants do you come across 'Kranz' anatomy? To which conditions are those plants better adapted? How are these plants better adapted than the plants which lack this anatomy. |
|
Answer» Solution :Kranz anatomy refers to the dimorphism in the chloroplast structure. It is found in `C_(4)` plants. The cell of leaves have two type of chloroplast in them. Granal Chloroplast It is found in the mesophyll cells of leaves. Chloroplast have well developed grana in them. These chloroplast effectively fix `CO_(2)` even if it is present in lower concentrations. PEP caboxylae is present with fix `CO_(2)` and to form oxaloacetic acid (4 carbond dioxided ). Agranal Chloroplast Present in bundle sheath cells of the leaves. `C_(3)` cycle occurs in these cell with the presence of RuBisCo enzyme. The `C_(4)` plants are well ADAPTED to high `O_(2)` concentration and high temperature. `C_(4)` plants can absorb `CO_(2)` even when `CO_(2)` concentration in much LOW thus `C_(4)` plants can perform high rate of photosynthesis even the stomata are closed or there is the shortage OFWATER thus, they can conserve water. Since, PEP- carboxylase isinsenitive to `O_(2)` thus excess `O_(2)` has us inhibitory EFFECT in `C_(4)` PATHWAY and there is no photosynthesis in `C_(4)` plants. Thus, `C_(4)` plants are better adapted to tropical and desert ( hot acid habitats ) areas than the plants, that lack this anatomy. |

Question : In what kind of plant do you come across 'Kanz' anatomy ? To which conditions are those plants better adapted ? How are these plants better adapted that the plants, which lack this anatomy? |
|
Answer» Solution :Kranz anatomy is seen in `C_(4)` plants. Two types of chloroplasts are seen in leaves of these plants. Grana BASED chloroplast : They are in MESOPHYLL cells. Chloroplasts are fused with grana in cells. They can do fixation of `CO_(2)` at less consentration of `CO_(2)`. They have PEP carboxylase enzyme. That does fixation of `CO_(2)` and forms OAA (Oxalo Acetric Acid) compound fused with `C_(4)` Chloroplast without graph : They are seen in cells of bundle sheath wher e there is `C_(3)` pathway and RuBisCo enzyme. `C_(4)` plants can RuBisCO enzyme. `C_(4)` plants can absorb `CO_(2)` if concentration of `CO_(2)` is also less. However PEP carboxylase is INSENSITIVE towards `O_(2)`. So `O_(2)` is a resistant factor in `C_(4)` pathway. So photosynthesis doesn.t TAKE place. Thus `C_(4)` plants are adapted to tropical regions and desert region. |
