Where and how do we preserve skieletions of animals, dry specimens

Answer» The entire organism can be preserved by using formalin, alcohol (70-90%) or by freezing. But to preserve the skeleton of animals or dry specimen the following method is used:• Removal of soft tissues: surplus soft tissues from bones was removed by cutting them. The bones were then transferred to 10% NaOH solution and then boiled.• Removal of fatty tissues: by immersing bones in chloroform.• Bleaching: the dried bones were transferred to Hydrogen peroxide for bleaching. • Theses bones are then dried and can be preserved for a long time

Write a note on DNA Replication

Answer» DNA replication is the process by which DNA makes\xa0a copy of itself during\xa0cell division. ... The separation of the two single strands of DNA creates a \'Y\' shape called a replication \'fork\'. The two separated strands will act as templates for making the new strands of DNA.
18.

What is gene expression ?

Answer» \xa0Gene expression\xa0is the process by which the instructions present in our DNA are converted into a functional product, such as a protein. This process is a tightly coordinated process which allows a cell to respond to its changing environment.
19.

Differentiate between conformation and configuration

Answer» Configuration\xa0is an arrangement of parts or elements in a particular form, figure, or combination.e.g. What\'s the configuration of PC?Conformation\xa0is any of the spatial arrangements which the atoms in a molecule may adopt and freely convert between, especially by rotation about individual single bonds.e.g. a change of DNA conformation induced by binding of RNA polymerase
20.

Cell biology

Answer» Cell:\xa0Cell is the basic structural and functional unit of living organism. Just as bricks is unit structure of house. Each cell is capable of performing a basic function of life. Such as reproduction, respiration, excretion, growth, and so on.The combined views of Schleiden and Schwann led to the formulation of the cell theory. The cell theory is also known as the cell doctrine or cell principle. It state:1.All living organisms’ are made up of cells and their products.2. All cells arise from pre- existing cell.3. Cells are the structural and functional unit of all living organisms.4. Cell is hereditary cells.5. All cells are basically alike in chemical composition and metabolic activities.6. Life passes from one generation to other generation in the form of a living cell.

DNA as genetic material , explain mice experiment?

Answer» DNA is a genetic molecule. Yes, its right! Therefore any effect on the reproductive cells during replication of DNA will similarly have an effect of variation in the organism. But if any changes occur in the somatic cells of the body of any organism (muscle cells or skin cells etc.) it does not effect the next generations of the organism simply because there is no change in DNA. Similarly, in the case of mice experiment the tails were cut down (somatic cells) which didn\'t affect the genes. Therefore, the next generation also had tails as all mice have.<br>How are you

Although O2 does not participate directly in TCA cycle the cycle operates only when O present, why??

Answer» Although O2 is not needed in TCA CYCLE but it stops in the absence of O2 because it runs out ofNAD and FAD and O2 is final acceptor of electron in ETC . Without oxygen it stops and NAD cannot be produced thereby causing glycolysis to produce lactic acid instead of pyruvic acid which is a necessary component of TCA cycle .thus kreb cycle is heavily dependent on O2 for its aerobic process
